For many brides it is a girl’s dream come true, getting married in a castle. Kasteel Huis Bergh is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. The medieval castle is a beautiful location to say yes.

Getting married at this fairy-tale location, then, is what the bride and groom of this reportage, Ilse and Ivo, did.
If I am hired for an entire day to photograph your most beautiful day, I usually also capture the transformation from girl with a dream to bride. Those very moments prior to the real beginning of the wedding day are often precious and full of emotion. So too for Ilse. Her mother helped her put on her beautiful wedding dress from Koonings The Wedding Palace. Ilse’s hair and makeup were done by her best friend Nikki Prein.
I’ve blogged about the first-look moment before. It remains special to witness this. Whether the bride and groom are seeing each other for the first time at one of their homes, at the church or at City Hall, it is always an emotional moment. Ilse came out across the blue carpet to see her handsome groom in his Jac Hensen wedding suit for the first time on this special day.
Castle Huis Bergh is not only a beautiful wedding venue, but also a great and romantic backdrop for the photo shoot. With its moat, drawbridge, flying flags, shutters and defense towers and vistas, the castle is very suitable for taking the wedding photos. The fact that the bride can come running down the stairs here with her father at the beginning of the ceremony obviously makes for great photos. The gorgeous rings were from Siebel. The balcony scene after the wedding ceremony is also great to capture. Café Heeren Dubbel provided the cake and toast in the castle garden. With the castle as the backdrop, dressed by Bloem Beleving Didam a great place to start the party.
Because I always try to use as many moments as possible to create storytelling photos as well as beautiful wedding photos, we sometimes stop at a beautiful spot to capture the bride and groom together once more. Again, there was time and weather suitable to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings of the Montferland.
Restaurant Montferland is located in an oasis of green atop the highest Motte hill in the Netherlands, surrounded by forest. So the environment is great for taking pictures. But, as you can see, it is also a warm and modern venue. Dj Niels made it a real party. From such a sparkling wedding party, I take the coolest photos.
